Dancing for a Cause

Two hundred dance aficionados gathered in the iconic Casino Ballroom for the Sunrise Rotary Club's "Dancing for a Cause".  A red-carpet cocktail reception started the evening, followed by dinner and then six Orange County residents and their professional dance partner's competed for the Top Dancer trophy and a $1,000 prize for their favorite nonprofit group.




George Caravalho, San Clemente planning commissioner, and a young 72 years old, representing the San Clemente Beaches, Parks & Recreation Foundation danced with Justina Crisp, 25 years old, in a rumba-tango medley entitled
Mondo-Bongo:Assassin's Tango.



Kelley White, representing the Coastal Mountain Youth Academy, an educational program for troubled teenagers, joined Philip Gott in dancing the cha-cha in a routine she called "Baile Moreno".




Richard Ford, 58, danced for the San Clemente Sunrise Rotary with Stephanie Olsen in a jive number he called "Woof-You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog"!




Chelse Shioya danced for Fullerton Rotaract, a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women,  accompanied by South Coast Dancesport owner Matt Gregory.




Laura Khoui performed for Laura's House with Ryan Crutcher in a salsa number they called, "Fever".




Bob Burns competed for the San Clemente Sunrise Rotary with Katya Marshukova a cha-cha inspired number called, "Ka-Boom" and won the title!!!
